The clouds were amazing a few days ago. I’d had to get up early for a business meeting over breakfast so couldn’t stop to take photos of the sunrise. But as the day progresses the clouds remained very interesting so when a girlfriend mentioned she was going for a walk that afternoon I took the opportunity to go with her. This is just a couple of shots over the lake and towards the hills that afternoon.
When I got to the lake there was mist everywhere but as the sun rose that began to dissipate or burn off.
In the first image the sun hadn’t yet hit the area but you can see the mist is fading or lifting.
In this second, the sun has reached the trees and we can see blue sky. I love the colouring in this one.
Went on my weekly walk with friend Ros to Lysterfield Lake Park. When we arrrived I could see mist rising from the lake above the trees. Once we got down to the lake, this is what greeted my eyes.
This one I pass whenever driving up to my daughter’s so had to stop to take some photos.
As Autumn here is drawing nearer to winter the colours are getting more vibrant on the trees and on the ground. The next few days are of my own grounds or gardens and parks not far from where we live.
The scotch thistles are out. They are a weed and I need to get rid of them but, as yet, unable to work in the garden. However, they do make for good subject matter when taking photos. And I love their colours when they’re in flower.
I’m now getting back outside into my garden, which is such a blessing. It’s not until you lose the use of something for sometime (in my case a foot and leg) that you don’t realise how much it means to you. So glad to be walking again, even if slowly. Yesterday I enjoyed the afternoon [...]

A photo of a blue banded bee I took led me to a path of discovery. I began researching to find out what kind of bee it was. I've actually learnt lots of things since that day and can now name almost every bird in this region and identify it by its call too. Apart from improving my skills in photography and learning more about my camera, lighting, settings, etc, I've learnt so much more about the environment in which I live. [Read More …]
