Thought I’d share with you some sunrise shots I’ve taken in Selby and Kallista over the past couple of years.
It really is a beautiful time of day that most people miss as they’re in bed – or not looking outside. I can’t wait to be out and witnessing sunrises again.
I went for a visit to Grant’s Picnic Grounds in Kallista recently. I pop in there now and then in the hope of seeing a Lyrebird but haven’t been successful in that regard yet. However, the paths to walk are beautiful, there is lots of birdlife and other things to see. My photos this week are from that ground and it was the morning after a heavy rainful the previous day. Graham and I found this path that travelled alongside the Kallista-Emerald Road and we walked along a portion of it. It was quite damp and we walked single-file. You can see in the photo below that the trees were very tall – my husband looks dwarfed amongst them.
A photo of a blue banded bee I took led me to a path of discovery. I began researching to find out what kind of bee it was. I've actually learnt lots of things since that day and can now name almost every bird in this region and identify it by its call too. Apart from improving my skills in photography and learning more about my camera, lighting, settings, etc, I've learnt so much more about the environment in which I live. [Read More …]
