When I went to visit our daughter a few days ago it was one of those misty low lying cloud type of days. This is what I saw on the road.
Rather beautiful don’t you think?

As I mentioned recently, my husband and I had guests from interstate and we spent a day with them on the Puffing Billy train. The train leaves from Belgrave and travels to Emerald Lake Park and then moves on to Gembrook. We chose to go as far as Emerald Lake Park, have lunch and wander around and then catch the train back to Belgrave. That, in itself, was a pretty full day. There were a lot of carriages on the train when we caught it and two engines pulling them but once we got to Menzies Creek many of the tourists got off to get on buses and the extra carriages taken off and we were put back to one engine only. In reverse, the second engine was added back on when we got back to Menzies Creek.
It was a long train and yes, people do sit hanging their legs out of the windows.
Coupling back up after removing one of the engines.
All aboard! Leaving Emerald Lake Park station.
Returning back to Belgrave. The two engines pull the carriages across the historic Trestle Bridge.
Filling up at Emerald.

This train is heading back to Belgrave after being to Gembrook. At Gembrook they move the engine to the other end of the carriages to head back. Always amuses me how the engine travels backwards.

Another shot close to our home.

The Fire Patrol follows after the Puffing Billy on its trips to ensure all is safe, especially in the Summer season. Seems the dog is a regular member of the team.
We went to a friend’s place for dinner last night, along with some other friends, and sat on the outside deck enjoying our meal. As we sat there more guests arrived for dinner and I was delighted to get shots of them. In these shots is a Common Bronzewing (quite a large bird) and a [...]

I talked my husband into taking me to Lysterfield Park on Friday evening. I’d been walking a total of two days, with the aid of a crutch, and I was itching to get outside again. He was a bit reluctant but took me anyway, and watched over me very carefully as I made my way [...]
Hello, my name is Kathie. I've enjoyed photography since my teen years but didn't take it seriously until a few years ago.
A photo of a blue banded bee I took led me to a path of discovery. I began researching to find out what kind of bee it was. I've actually learnt lots of things since that day and can now name almost every bird in this region and identify it by its call too. Apart from improving my skills in photography and learning more about my camera, lighting, settings, etc, I've learnt so much more about the environment in which I live. [Read More …]
