Scotch Thistles

The scotch thistles are out. They are a weed and I need to get rid of them but, as yet, unable to work in the garden. However, they do make for good subject matter when taking photos. And I love their colours when they’re in flower.

I’m now getting back outside into my garden, which is such a blessing. It’s not until you lose the use of something for sometime (in my case a foot and leg) that you don’t realise how much it means to you. So glad to be walking again, even if slowly. Yesterday I enjoyed the afternoon sun and my garden.

Beautiful rose

As I’ve not been out in my garden over the past few weeks I’ve really missed seeing my roses in bloom. I get to see a couple outside my window but that has been it. But last week I was able to be outside for awhile and noticed the beautiful Double Delight in full bloom. Isn’t it beautiful? This rose has a magnificent scent too and is very prolific in its flowering.

Think these are an azelea but not sure. If you know, please do tell! The flowers look more like a lily but the leaves don’t. Anyway, saw these in a friend’s garden (yes, I need to ask her next time I see her – she’s not online). I loved her garden and would like to do similar with our own over time.

Fortunately for me, I take more than one photo a day, any time I’m out with my camera. Which was every day till my accident on 12th December. So I’m going to share with you photos I haven’t published here before and hoping that soon I’ll get creative, even in my limited movement for more new shots.

This is a rose outside my office window – I took it one morning as the sun was reaching our garden. It’s as fragrant as it is beautiful.

The bee and thistle

Wandering around our garden during the week I spied a well developed Scotch Thistle. Must get out and do some serious weeding! On closer inspection though I spied this bee who was enjoying the thistle. Think I’ll leave it there a while longer!

This is one of the new rose bushes in our garden and it has a really pretty flower. Smells lovely too.

Simplicity

Sometimes the most simple things can make beautiful photos, but then again, it’s in the eye of the beholder. While the Scotch Thistle is a weed, I love the colours, particularly when the sun is highlighting it.

Double Delight Rose

I love this rose. My daughter and her girlfriend gave it to me for my birthday a couple of years ago. The bush is a prolific flowerer and truly delights, both visually and aromatically. The first photo was taken 2 days before the next one – it changes so quickly.
